What is the process of receiving veneers like?
The process begins with a consultation, where we will determine what your specific smile goals are and if veneers are the right option for your teeth. The next appointment involves prepping the teeth and removing a small amount of enamel from the front of each tooth that is receiving a veneer. Temporary veneers will be placed to protect your teeth, and then your porcelain veneers will be designed to your exact specifications. The final visit involves removing the temporary veneers, placing the permanent ones, and making any additional adjustments to ensure that they look fantastic.
Will veneers make my teeth sensitive?
Veneers are very thin yet durable restorations that can actually help shield the teeth from hot and cold foods and make them less sensitive. However, during the short period of time when patients are wearing temporary veneers while they wait for their permanent veneers to be designed and created, the teeth may feel a bit more sensitive, as they have just been prepped for veneers. We recommend using toothpaste for sensitive teeth and avoiding food and drinks that are extreme temperatures during this time.
Are veneers a restorative or cosmetic service?
Veneers can be used for both restorative and purely cosmetic purposes. Many times, when a patient has one or two front teeth that have been damaged and need to be restored, they will choose a veneer over an alternative restoration like a crown due to how customizable and natural veneers are. If your front teeth are healthy and you just want to enhance the overall appearance of your smile, veneers are great for that, too! Placing veneers on all of the front teeth can be an excellent way to achieve a bright, uniform smile.Contact Us
